Sport’s day
July 11, 2010
On Monday sport’s day was held for both Infant and Junior children. The weather held out meaning the event could be held on the field. The morning saw the Infants competing in sprint, egg and spoon, relay and obstacle races as well as some very competitive mums and dads races. All the children joined in well and received a certificate for their efforts. In the afternoon the Juniors competed in their individual events including relay, javelin throw, shot put, target throwing, speed jumping and long jump. Well done to all the children who competed and thank you to all parents who joined us on the day to support their children.
Wozard of Iz
July 11, 2010

Last Wednesday and Thursday saw the performance of the much anticipated junior production of the Wozard of Iz. The story was based around the famous Wizard of Oz story but the script was adapted to suit Llantrisant by Mr Owen, Mrs Davies and Mrs Cowley and so a change in title seemed appropriate. The performance required a lot of rehearsal time prior to the show but it clearly paid of as both performances were fantastic and enjoyed by all that went to see them. Many thanks to all staff, children and parents who contributed time and effort to this special event.

SEAL assemblies
March 21, 2010
Last week, all the children in the school took part in their SEAL assembly. SEAL is the resource the school uses to teach PSHE. This terms topic was Relationships and it gave children the opportunity to think about and explore tough emotions like loss, jelousy and anger. The assemblies were an opportunity to share what had been talked about in the classrooms with our parents and carers.
St. David’s Day!
March 6, 2010
To celebrate St. David’s day all the children gathered in the hall in the afternoon to watch the other classes perform a short piece for the rest of the school. Class 1, 2, 5 and 6 performed various Welsh songs and rhymes, while class 3 performed two traditional Welsh folk dances. Class 4 told us all about Wales and what it means to be Welsh and then the whole school stood for the singing of the national anthem. It was a lovely day and it made us all proud to be Welsh.
Blitz presentations
March 6, 2010
To show what they have learned through their work in history, the children of class 3 performed short presentations on the blitz to the rest of their class. All children did extremely well and showed that this topic has been of great interest to them all and they have all learned a lot. Well done class 3!
Swansea War museum
March 6, 2010
On Thursday 25th February, class 3 went on a trip to the world war II museum in Swansea as part of their ongoing history topic. They learned all about the blitz and had the opportunity to try on the clothing and actually go inside an aid raid shelter. The children used the information they gathered on this day to help them with their presentation on the blitz that they gave to their class this week.
Hair for Haiti!
January 23, 2010
In an effort to raise money to help the people of Haiti after the recent earthquake, all the children and adults came to school with crazy hair. With such a big effort on the day we managed to raise a fantastic £402 for the cause. Thank you to everyone that contributed. Class 2 wrote prayers for the people of Haiti at this difficult time.

Pupil of the term awards!
January 23, 2010
Due to the snow the presentation of the certificate for pupil of the term was delayed until this past week. At the end of each term every teacher must nominate one child to receive the award. This can be to reward a particular achievement over term or just to recognise excellent progress in a particular area. The winners for the autumn term are pictured below. Well done to all!
Brainbox week!
January 23, 2010
Once again, the past week has been focusing on the children learning more about their brain, how it works and what it needs. They have also been thinking about how they learn best. Class 2 learned that whenever they learn new thing learning stars appear in their brains. We made these hats to show that. Class 3 looked at the brain in more detail and tried to decide whether they were left- or right-brained when it came to learning. Class 3 also made their very own brains.
Autumn Term educational visits
January 23, 2010
Over the last term, class 3 were focusing on the work of Laura Ashley for their art project. To help develop this knowledge the children visited the Laura Ashley museum and took part in many fun activities with the staff there. As part of the history topic for last term they also visited the waterfront museum in Swansea.
