Year 6 Leavers’ assembly
July 20, 2010
On Thursday the 2010 cohort of Year 6 has their chance to perform for the last time in front of the school. They shared their hopes and dreams for the future as well as their best and worst memories of their time at our school. Time was made during the assembly to award each Year 6 child with an award including motor mouth and best dancers. The assembly was fantastic and enjoyed by all. We wish all children leaving Llantrisant Primary this year all the luck in the world with their upcoming adventures in their new schools.
Sport’s day
July 11, 2010
On Monday sport’s day was held for both Infant and Junior children. The weather held out meaning the event could be held on the field. The morning saw the Infants competing in sprint, egg and spoon, relay and obstacle races as well as some very competitive mums and dads races. All the children joined in well and received a certificate for their efforts. In the afternoon the Juniors competed in their individual events including relay, javelin throw, shot put, target throwing, speed jumping and long jump. Well done to all the children who competed and thank you to all parents who joined us on the day to support their children.
Wozard of Iz
July 11, 2010

Last Wednesday and Thursday saw the performance of the much anticipated junior production of the Wozard of Iz. The story was based around the famous Wizard of Oz story but the script was adapted to suit Llantrisant by Mr Owen, Mrs Davies and Mrs Cowley and so a change in title seemed appropriate. The performance required a lot of rehearsal time prior to the show but it clearly paid of as both performances were fantastic and enjoyed by all that went to see them. Many thanks to all staff, children and parents who contributed time and effort to this special event.

Rugby
May 15, 2010
On Wednesday we were very honoured to be visited by Bradley Davies and Scott Andrews from the Cardiff Blues rugby squad. Bradley Davies is a past pupil of the school. They visited the school for some extra training with the school’s rugby team that will be playing in the Pontypridd School’s cup final on Monday 17th May in Hawthorn. The children involved benefited from their visit greatly and we wish the team all the best for Monday!

May 15, 2010
As part of their history work this term class 4 visited Rhondda Heritage Park to learn about the unique culture and history of our country. The children learned to appreciate the tough job that coal miners had as they went down into the pretend mine.
Wales Spring Clean 2010
May 15, 2010
As part of the Wales spring clean initiative, class 4 cleaned up the common and surrounding areas to the school. The children gathered up all kinds of rubbish that would have otherwise harmed the environment and the wildlife living in the area. The children worked hard together- good job class 4!
Kingswood 2010
April 25, 2010
Before the Easter holidays the whole of the year 6 group went on a team-building fun week to Kingswood activity centre. The main aim of this project is that the children get to spend time with children from different schools that they will be at secondary school with in September. The trip was a roaring success as usual and the children have made some new friends for September.
Daerwynno
April 18, 2010

Before half-term year 5 pupils had the opportunity to visit the Daerwynno Activity Centre for a day of team-building fun! They were very fortunate with the weather and so had lots of fun outside. At one point the group had to lift Mr Emanuel through a hole in a net- now there’s some strong children! It looks like they all had a fantastic day.

SEAL assemblies
March 21, 2010
Last week, all the children in the school took part in their SEAL assembly. SEAL is the resource the school uses to teach PSHE. This terms topic was Relationships and it gave children the opportunity to think about and explore tough emotions like loss, jelousy and anger. The assemblies were an opportunity to share what had been talked about in the classrooms with our parents and carers.

The children later went on a visit to the factory.
