On Thursday 25th February, class 3 went on a trip to the world war II museum in Swansea as part of their ongoing history topic. They learned all about the blitz and had the opportunity to try on the clothing and actually go inside an aid raid shelter. The children used the information they gathered on this day to help them with their presentation on the blitz that they gave to their class this week.

As part of our Geography topic this term we will be comparing aspects of Llantrisant with Cardiff. We started by looking at parks. We have already visited Gwaunruppera Park in Llantrisant to see what that had to offer and so we wanted to visit a totally different park in Cardiff. We chose Roath Park and spent Wednesday morning finding out all about it. It was a cold day so we made sure we did lots of running around to keep us warm.

Costain Trip

November 13, 2009

costain-003.jpg

On Tuesday the children of class 4 visited the Costain construction site near Efailisaf. They learned all about the planning and construction of the new bypass and heard about how the environment is being effected by this development. The staff at Costain showed the children how the development was carefully planned and monitored to limit its effect on the environment. It was a very useful day and the children learned a lot. Many thanks to all the staff at Costain.

On Tuesday class 2 went on a trip to Castell Coch in Cardiff. The children listened to Aesop Fable tales told through short stories and music. The main characters from the stories were painted on the walls of the room. After this the class were visited by a knight who told the children all about life as a knight and taught them to fight. The children had the chance to try on some of the knights battle attire, which they found very heavy. Many thanks to the staff at Castell Coch and Cadw for providing such a worthwhile visit!

The Sound of Music - Proposed School Trip

January 23, 2008

Dear parent,

As you are probably aware the junior children will be performing “The Sound of Music” in a few weeks time. As it is currently being performed at the London Palladium we were thinking of arranging a trip to see it.

The only matinee performance during the week is on a Wednesday afternoon at 2.30pm. when Connie Fisher, unfortunately, does not take the leading part. Still, we don’t think that matters too much.

We are thinking of going on Wednesday 27th February. We would probably leave about 8am and arrive home around 9.30pm. This would give us some time when we get to London to see some of the sights and have lunch. The cost of good theatre seats are £22.50 for children and £45 for adults if you would like to come. Edwards buses have quoted us a price of £640 for a coach.

Based on these figures, if  we were to fill the bus the total cost would be around £35.50 for a child and £59 per adult. We appreciate that this will be quite expensive. But if you’ve won on the lottery recently you may still wish to come! If you are intrested and we hope you are, could you please fill in the slip provided and send it back into school by Friday if possible.

If you need another slip, please let us know.

Many Thanks,

Mr Owen and Mrs Davies.
