Dear Parent,

The Sponsored Bounce, which we held last week,  was a massive success on a number of fronts. It raised £1002,  which is the largest amount we have ever raised on a sponsored event. Thank you very much and well done to everybody.  The children from reception age group and upwards walked up and down to the Leisure Centre, the walk up and down was a very interesting experience for some of the younger children,  with plenty of stops for breathers and opportunities to look at some of the more unusual street names, plants and stone built houses on the way.

A big thanks to Mrs. Hinton and Mrs. Watts,  who ferried many of the younger children back and for during the course of the morning. The event was also successful in the amount of enjoyment the children had doing the activity and it never ceases to amaze me the energy that the children have when they are doing something  that they enjoy.  Thanks go to the staff  who collected the money, went down with the children and many of whom got on the bouncy castle,  doing their best to make a public spectical of themselves!!

We are looking for an extra mid-day assistant to work with two children in our learning support classes. If you are interested in this role please let me know. The timings will be between 12.15pm and 1.15pm each day. Tomorrow afternoon at 1.30pm there will be a new intake seminar for parents of children who are due to start school in Autumn term. If you know anybody in this category please remind them of this event and also that on this occasion it would be better to come without the children.

Tomorrow also, the school is closed for classes 1, 2 6 & 7 due to industrial action taken by the National Union of Teachers.  School will be open as usual for the children in classes 3, 4 & 5. On Friday morning,  classes 3 & 4 will be having an early start for their trip to the Imperial War Museum in London. Some of the machines developed in this period were extremely impressive and I am sure the children will enjoy seeing them first hand and be amazed at what they were capable of.

On Saturday,  Mr. Bailey is enjoying a milestone birthday, I will give you a clue and tell you that it isn’t 30 and I wish him all the best for the day. As you know Mr. Bailey does sterling work at the school, makes all kinds of items for us, including the benches, picnic benches and fencing in the yard,  as well as doing all the interior work at the school. He really is a valued member of staff.  Happy Birthday Alan from all the staff and children.

Next Tuesday,  there will be a presentation given by the Fire Service to Year 5 on fire safety. Finally,  thanks go to those parents who helped to ferry the rugby and netball teams down to Parc Lewis School  for the matches held last week. Unfortunately the rugby team lost and are now out of the plate competition, so ending the rugby season and training.    Congratulations go to the netball team as they continue their impressive run with another win by 12 goals to 8. Well done girls!

Yours faithfully,

Mike Emanuel

Dear Parent,

The school will be closed for all those children in the infant department(Classes 1, 2, 6 & 7) on Thursday next week. This is a result of industrial action being taken by the National Union of Teachers. The junior department, Classes 3, 4 & 5 will not be affected by this action and there will be school as normal for them on this day. Swimming restarted for the junior department this morning. Class 5 went along to the Crucial Crew event in Pontypridd, run by the local police.  This supports the all Wales police programme in helping children identify right from wrong, both for themselves and the community in which they live.

After school today school cricket training begins at Miskin Cricket Club, arriving at Miskin at 3.45pm and the children will need to be collected at 4.45pm. . We hope that, as usual, a number of you parents will be kind enough to take children along to the training sessions, please don’t forget to bring along your current insurance certificates for us to be able to comply with the new local education authority instructions.  The Miskin Cricket Club training will start this Friday at 5.00 pm for children who are in Years 3,4,5, & 6.

We are hoping to play our Pontypridd Schools’ Plate rugby match tomorrow, unfortunately Parc Lewis are unable to come here to play us,  so I hope we will be able to go there to play them. Can you please let me know, first thing in the morning, if you are able to provide transport and bring along that magical insurance certificate.  We are also going to be playing a netball match up in Parc Lewis, which will go on at the same time as the rugby, so transport would be appreciated for the netball team also.

On Friday we have the Sponsored Bounce. This will take place between 10.00 am and 2.30 pm at Llantrisant Leisure Centre. The children will be going down in classes or smaller groups, in order to take part. Please remember to return all sponsor money and forms by Friday morning at the latest.  After school dance classes restarted yesterday and will continue from next Tuesday onwards. A big thanks to Louise Prosser who is having a lot of input with dance at the school, taking class 3 on a Wednesday morning and preparing the children for the production of ‘The Sound of Music’

Don’t forget,  dinner money is collected on a Monday morning for the week ahead, £7.00 per week for infants and £7.25 per week for junior children.  Lunch money arriving on all five days of the week doesn’t help with banking and keeping our accounts up to date. Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter. #

Yours faithfully,

Dear Parent,

Welcome back to the summer term at Llantrisant Primary School. I hope you had an enjoyable Easter and that the children are somewhere near finishing off all their Easter eggs. Congratulations to Bradley Powell on winning the Easter Egg Hamper, I am sure he hasn’t finished his eggs yet! Can I remind you about the Sponsored Bounce which is going to take place a week Friday, 18th April at Llantrisant Leisure Centre. We hope everybody will take part in this event, but we will only take down the children who have returned completed sponsor forms and brought in their sponsor money by this date. We have Bug Buster nit combs on sale at the school for £1 each.  If you would like to purchase one please contact Mrs. Jones in Class 6.

A big thanks to all you parents who help out with lifts for the sporting teams at the school over the course of the term. We have recently received instructions from the LEA that before we let any children travel in any car,  the Head of the school needs to see a valid current insurance certificate. I hope this doesn’t put any of you off in any way,  but I am sure that despite the inconvenience we can all see the need for this.  The teaching staff will also have to bring in their insurance certificates if they are going to transport children at any time, so please bring your certificate with you on the days you help out.

On Monday and Tuesday next week,  Year 6 will be taking part in a transition activity with all the other children who are going to Y Pant in September. They will be doing team building activities at Pencelli Outdoor Centre in the Brecon Beacons. We hope this is an opportunity that will be given to Year 6 pupils over the next couple of years.  On Monday after school,  Evolve Sports will be starting their multi-sports programme with  Key Stage 1 children. A flyer for this programme was distributed yesterday to all Year 1 & 2 children.

Swimming for the juniors will start next Wednesday morning.  Please also find attached, the first calendar for this term. As you aware other events will be added as the term goes along. Please note the date of the Fun Day in the calender. This day is going to take the place of a theme park trip this year,  as in the last few years only about three fifths of the children have gone on these trips. We are going to try to see if this is a more inclusive day that everyone will take part in, though we haven’t yet arranged the activities and treats that will make up the day.

There will be rugby training tomorrow evening in preparation for our Pontypridd Schools’  Plate match vs Parc Lewis which will take place next week.

Yours faithfully,
Mike Emanuel
