Dear Parent,
This afternoon the children in Class 4 were able to take part in a Rocket Workshop run by the Education Business Partnership. This was paid for out of money raised by the PTA. The PTA is an important part of what goes on at the school, acting as a Friends of the School Group raising money for activities like this and resources and generally helping to promote the spirit of the school.
Last week two of the new parents set up a discussion site on which they hope to get to know some of you. The site is totally independent of the school and was an initiative of their own, not having been discussed with myself. As it is an independent site, the school logo will be removed so that it can be seen to be completely unofficial. Chris and Jonathan’s original idea to have an informal point of contact with other parents will continue at the same website address.
The deposits for the trip to the pantomime at the end of this term need to be in by tomorrow as seats will be booked next week. Please ensure if you have not reserved your seats you send in £5 per head by then. The school will be closed on Friday for a teacher training day but will be open as normal on Monday, 29th Sept. On Wednesday next week our combined rugby side will be competing in the Carnetown 7’s. This will be an all day event and if your son is selected to play he will need a packed lunch, warm clothing for between games and plenty of drinks to see him through the day. Mr. Andrews from Penygawsi will be taking training this evening and will accompany the team to the Carnetown event.
Yours faithfully,
Mike Emanuel
Head Teacher.

Dear Parent,
Llantrisant Male Voice Choir has recently given the school an electric organ that we are able to pass on to a family who feel their child would like to learn to play. If you would like this organ, please contact me and it will be given on a first come first served basis. I have been asked to remind parents dropping off their children at 9.00 am in the morning at the junior entrance, to please say goodbye to their children at the door as the space becomes very congested with both adults and children inside at this time and the start of the day is delayed.
Can I also remind the parents of children who take school lunches that dinner money is paid on a Monday for meals taken for the week. Meals are charged at the rate of £1.40 per infant meal i.e. £7.00 per week and £1.45 per junior meals i.e. £7.25 per week. Any meals not taken will be credited to the following week. According to the local education authority rules, meals which fall into arrears must be stopped after an accumulation of 10, which is two weeks, so can you please make an effort to pay promptly on Mondays. Thankyou!
There was a really good turn out for rugby training last week with ten children from this school making up a total of 24 children in all. The plan is that there will be a three weekly round robin tournament between schools and combined training with ourselves and Penygawsi will take place for the other two weeks in the cycle. The tournament is being held this afternoon so we train again over the next two Wednesdays.
Next Tuesday morning, John Newman will be coming to take his annual protraits of the children. John usually gets the best out of the children in these photographs and if you would like a family portrait, please be in school at 8.30 am to allow him to do these first. Next Wednesday afternoon class 4 will be having a rocket workshop with the edication business partnership.
Yours faithfully,
Mike Emanuel
Head Teacher.
