Mini-movers and Dance Makers
May 22, 2010
Apologies for the delay with these photos but better late than never! These photos show parts of the fantastic dances that both the Mini-movers and Dance makers performed at the Park and Dare Theatre at the end of last term. Many thanks to Louise Prosser, the children themselves and the parents for supporting this event as usual. Well done to all the performers-you did a wonderful job!

On Friday, as part of their children’s choice activity for the week, class 6 designed and made boats using waterproof materials that they had tested the week before. They then tested the boats in the water tray to see which design was the best.

May 15, 2010
On Thursday, class 2 and 6 went on their visit to Southerndown beach. This trip was postponed from last trip due to poor weather conditions but the weather this time was anything but poor. The children and adults present on the day enjoyed creating artwork in the sand using seaweed and pebbles, followed by rock-pooling in the afternoon. This trip supported both classes current theme as we are reading “Sharing a shell” by Julia Donaldson.
Brass Band
May 15, 2010
On Wednesday, the school were visited by a brass band who came to perform and teach the children about their instruments. The group involved out very own music teacher, Mrs Duckworth. Some of the children had a go at playing the instruments and even Mr Owen tried. I think Mr Owen realised just how hard it was to play a brass instrument. The children enjoyed performances of theme tunes like Eastenders, Harry Potter and The Simpsons.
Drum Crazy
May 15, 2010
On Monday a company called Drum Crazy came to the school to involve all the children in a workshop about drums. Each class had their time with the drums where every child had a go at playing something. At the end of the day the children performed what they had rehearsed. It was a fantastic opportunity for all and one which was enjoyed greatly.

May 15, 2010
On Wednesday we were very honoured to be visited by Bradley Davies and Scott Andrews from the Cardiff Blues rugby squad. Bradley Davies is a past pupil of the school. They visited the school for some extra training with the school’s rugby team that will be playing in the Pontypridd School’s cup final on Monday 17th May in Hawthorn. The children involved benefited from their visit greatly and we wish the team all the best for Monday!
Rhondda Heritage Park
May 15, 2010
As part of their history work this term class 4 visited Rhondda Heritage Park to learn about the unique culture and history of our country. The children learned to appreciate the tough job that coal miners had as they went down into the pretend mine.
Wales Spring Clean 2010
May 15, 2010
As part of the Wales spring clean initiative, class 4 cleaned up the common and surrounding areas to the school. The children gathered up all kinds of rubbish that would have otherwise harmed the environment and the wildlife living in the area. The children worked hard together- good job class 4!
