February 3, 2010

3rd February  2010. Dear Parent,‘Open Door Assemblies’  performed for all the children this afternoon. Tomorrow we have local business man Harry Palmer coming to talk to Class 4.  On Monday morning Steve Powderhill  is coming along to take St. David’s Day photographs of the children.  Mr. Powderhill always insists on taking photographs of only those children who are in costume, so if you would like your child’s photograph in the local paper near St. David’s Day,  please ensure they are dressed appropriately on Monday. A new opportunity is going to be provided for the children in Years 5 & 6 on a Monday afternoon,  with Class 4 taking part in a Cheerleading lesson lead by Emma Richards. The lesson will be followed next half term by a cheerleading club,  which will run on a Monday after school for 1 hour. Next Tuesday on the 9th February the school will be taking part in the Small Schools’ Rugby Competition. The venue is as yet undecided,  but we will probably need two additional cars to take the children to the venue.  Also on Tuesday afternoon there will be a seminar for parents of children in Class 1,  on the benefits and techniques of toothbrushing for children of that age. New toothbrushes and toothpaste have been provided by the local health board and the staff in Class 1 have been working with the children on brushing their teeth. On Thursday next week the children in the junior department will have the opportunity to watch a play called “Straight from the Horses Mouth”,  which is an historical drama about the Tonypandy riots. The performance will take place in the school hall with the school being charged £2.00 per head for the performance. It would be greatly appreciated if you could send your child’s entrance fee for the performance as soon as possible,  as I am sure the children will gain a lot from the play in terms of understanding a little more of our rich heritage. We have a temporary vacancy in the kitchen from 12.15pm to 1.15pm. If anyone is interested in filling this vacancy could you please see Mrs. Steph Davies, the school cook, or Mrs. Williams the school secretary for further details. Many thanks for your continued support, Yours faithfully,Mike EmanuelHead Teacher.
