Reporting to Parents
We encourage you to play a full and active part in their child’s education. Central to this is a belief that it is important to keep parents and children up to date with what is going on at school generally, and what needs to be done to help each child make progress, specifically.
Llantrisant Primary is a friendly school. We encourage parents to talk to the staff and bring forward any concern or highlight any achievement that may impact on their child’s learning. We believe that by working together we will benefit the children. We will in turn, speak to you about any concerns we have regarding anything we feel is hindering your child’s progress and through certificates, informal conversations and in-school rewards and praise, let you know when your child has done anything noteworthy..
General communication
A weekly news letter keeps parents up to date with the trips, sporting matches, special achievements, after school clubs on offer and other exciting events taking place in the forthcoming week.
A termly calendar gives people a chance to plan in advance for things like, parent assemblies, sports day, plays and the swimming gala.
Specific reporting
The children are set targets in maths and English by their class teachers and have to achieve these before moving on to a higher level. At parents’ evenings in both the autumn and spring terms, you have an update on progress made and the next steps your child needs to take. You can refer to these targets to see the progress your child has made so far.
New assessment progress grids, track the improvements pupils are making each term in the core subjects of English, maths and science. These will help you to see where your child is in relation to age expected norms.
End of year reports are written from assessment information gathered throughout the year. They should carry few surprises as they should summarise what you have already been told during previous parents’ evenings or other meetings with your child’s teacher or Mr.Emanuel.
