General Information
PRE-ADMISSION ARRANGEMENTS
Children will be admitted to the nursetry/reception class following their third birthday. They will be expected to be toilet trained prior to admission to the school.
This school recognises the early years of a child’s education as being crucial. Should the number of applications for nursery places be greater than the number of places available, the places will be filled according to criteria outlined in the Unitary Authorities “Starting School” booklet. The criteria for pupil entry will be those children who live in the school’s traditional local area will be offered places first. These places and the remaining places will be allocated using the following criteria, listed in priority order:-
1. The receipt by the school of a written application for a place
2. The oldest children will be offered the first full time place
Open mornings are held during the term prior to admission with the parents and children staying together.
PARENTAL ACCESS TO SCHOOL DOCUMENTATION
This school has a detailed range of both curricular and non curricular documentation that relate to most aspects of school life. These documents are available for inspection on your request. Please give notice of such requests to the Head Teacher so that time can be set aside to go through specific policies with you.
ABSENCES
All absences must be explained by letter or telephone, any unorthorised absences having to be recorded as such.
The percentage of attendance in the year 2005/2006 = 93.1% Unorthorised absences 0.41%
HEALTH AND SAFETY
Only prescribed medicines will be given at school. These must be clearly labelled with the child’s name and dosage and must be accompanied by a note from the parent.
If a child is epileptic, the school needs to be informed of his/her bahaviour prior to and immediately after a fit.
Minor injuries will receive basic first aid treatment from the aduly on duty. More serious accidents will be brought to the attention of the senior member of staff on site who will decide whether to involve the emergency services.

PUPILS WITH DISABILITY
In line with our Equal Opportunities Policy, every effort will be made to cater for pupils withphysical disability including wheelchair access.
ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE CONSIDERATION OF COMPLAINTS
Any concerns expresses by parents or others about the school curriculum and related matters will be considered in informat discussion with the Head Teacher and teachers in the first instance.
Where cases cannot be resolved informally, and will therefore be considered as formal complaints, the parents and others may contact the District Manager who will ensure that a complaint is fully considered and can direct the complainant through the various correct avenues 1.e. Governing Body of the school concerned, the Local Education Authoriy or finally after all procedures have been followed, the Secretary of State.
The local education authority will ensure all complaints are investigated speedily, efficiently, fully and fairly and that all aspects of the individual case are given proper consideration.

PREFERRED SCHOOL DRESS
We strongly encourage the wearing of preferred dress as we feel it sets a standard and fosters a sense of belonging in the school.
The required clothing is;-
- Royal blue sweatshirt
- Grey trousers or skirt
- White shirt, T Shirt or polo shirt
The uniform can be obtained on order from the P.T.A.
PASTORAL CARE
Our aim is to develop a caring attitude, self discipline and co-operation in our children. Pupils are expected to conduct themselves in a way that demonstrates their respect for others and their concern to uphold the good name of the school. All children will be expected to abide by our six school rules, and by deciding to send your children here yiou are making a commitment to support them.
- The school rules are:-
- Always respect others.
- Be kind to each other.
- Give everyone a chance to learn.
- Listen to other peoples ideas.
- We always come to school on time.
- When indoors we walk.
Please remember:-
1. During school hours no children may leave the school without permission. Written or telephone requests must be made by parents beforehand.
2. The wearing of jewellery is discouraged.
The school has a behaviour policy that outlines rewards given for good behavious and the progressive nature of sanctions should they become necessary to be applied. Serious or continious incidents of bad behavious will lead to exclusion. There are two types of exclusion one of which is short term, the other permanent. Goverment guidelines will be followed should either sanction become necessary.
The Ofted inspection team stated “Pupils have a very good understanding of right and wrong. They show a great respect for each other and adults, and work together as members of the school community in a very positive manner. The standard of their behaviour is consistently very good”.
