WELL DONE ECO......YOU DID IT!!!
The eco committee's wheelbarrow won the competition!
The ECO Committee were fortunte enough to be invited to join Llantrisant Community Council and promote a gardening event.
The challenge set was:- 'Design a wheelbarrow with a Roald Dahl Theme.' The children met and discussed ideas and decided to theme the wheelbarrow around 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory'. They made a sweet wrapper river by recycling sweet wrappers, clay oompa-loompa, sweets, marshmallow trees and lots more. They decided on different plants and flowers that they wanted to use. The chose quotes from the book and also laaminated golden tickets. Thanks to Mrs Dart and Mrs Pemberthy for their help and ideas!! We hope our wheelbarrow will win the competition!!! WELL DONE ECO! |

On Wednesday a few of the ECO Committee joined Mrs Geary on a trip to Maes Yr Haul Primary School in Bridgend we they attended a 'River Workshop' courtesy of the British River Council.
The pupils had the opportunity to take part in some fun games and activities including describing countries, a quiz on rivers and building a bridge using straws. The pupils were well behved and represented the school well and they are looking forward to sharing their knowledge with the ECO committee and school. |
Tim from 'KEEP WALES TIDY' came to meet the ECO committee to talk to us about the new 'Yellow Fish' campaign.
We learnt that within RCT, in the River Clun in particular there is alot of water pollution. The aim is that we will spray yellow fish near the drains and people will stop putting polluted substances down the drains. Oil is the most dangerous of all! In September the ECO committee will be doing more yellow fish and asking the local council if we can put the yellow fish around Llantrisant to raise awareness. If you would like to learn more please have a look at this document https://naturalresources.wales/media/2627/wfd-docs-eng.pdf |

As we are now a Platinum ECO School we were fortunate enough to be invited to the annual ECO awards at Cilfynydd.
The ECO chair and vice-chair accompanied Mrs Geary to represent Llantrisant Primary school and the ECO committee. The focus of the day was Global Citizenship. We listened to different people talking about Global Warming and the importance of looking after our environment. Before the event we spoke as a committee about what we felt was important in life and what we couldn't live without. |
