School Meals
School meals are prepared on site by staff employed by RCT’s in house catering company, Catering Direct. Charges for meals are consistent across the authority at £2.70 per day (£13.50 per week). A choice of two hot meals are available along with various baguettes. If a child is absent the cost of the meal will be carried forward to the following week. Application forms are available in school for parents who wish to enquire about their children’s entitlement to Free School Meals. Vegetarian menus are provided for those children who request it. Seating will also be provided for children who wish to bring a packed lunch from home. The supervisory assistants oversee the eating of school meals and look after the well being of the children during lunch hour. Children will be expected to follow their instructions during the lunchtime period. A senior member of staff will be on the premises at all times. Yard and ball games are available to the children on dry lunchtimes. A wide range of construction games, board games, computer games and creative activities are available to the children at wet lunchtimes. In line with County Borough Policy children will not be provided with a school meal if parents are not prompt with payment.and arrears amount to over 10 meals. Warning will be given in advance so that sandwiches can be sent from home in this eventuality.
