Monday 8th April
We started our STEM week today (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths). The children had lots of fun melting chocolate and pouring into moulds to make chocolate eggs, inflating balloons using baking powder and discovering if everyday items sink or float.
Why not test yourselves:
Does a crayon sink or float?
Does a wooden clothes peg sink or float?
Does an elastic band sink or float?
Try it out at home - It's lots of fun!
Don't forget you are invited into class on Thursday 11th April, 2.30pm to find out what the children have been doing this week. We look forward to showing you all our learning experiences.

The children are having lots of fun with out theme "Read me a Story"
This week's book is "Jack and the Beanstalk". The children have started it off by making a junk model beanstalk (we knew collecting all those paper towel tubes would come in useful one day!), and using adjectives to describe the main characters. We have looked at bean seeds and compared them to the pee seeds from a couple of weeks ago. We are so pleased the children remember what a seed needs to grow, and they have asked to plant bean seeds to grow our own beanstalks! Let's hope they are magic
The book for this week is "The Three Billy Goats Gruff"
The children have been very enthusiastic about our books. At the start of the topic we asked the children what books they would like to read (pupil voice), and they are enjoying finding out on a Monday morning what the book for the week is!

We have had lots of fun planting peas, building the princesses bed out of duplo, drawing and painting peas and pea shoots. We have also buried peas in the sand and have been exploring how to get them back out with sieves!

Our shopping trip to the local store.
We had lots of fun visiting the Bull Ring stores. A big thank you to Dai for being so kind and patient with us. We have been reinforcing the value of the different coins. Please could you continue to do this at home. Have a lovely half term everyone. |
A walk in the woods
We have been exploring in the woods and have collected natural things, such as leaves, sticks and moss. We then made crowns. Some of the children made patterns using all the natural objects.
'Dens and Dandelions'.
This term our topic is 'Dens and Dandelions'. The project has a forest skills and science focus which teaches the children about plants, flowers, trees and creatures found in a woodland habitat. The topic involves us spending a lot of time outside so fingers crossed for good weather. If anyone has any resources they feel would be useful to our topic they would be gratefully received. Keep checking the page for regular updates and pictures showing the children hard at work. Reminders * Please provide your child with a drink of water and a piece of fruit for afternoon play. * P.E.day is a Friday please provide your child with the appropriate kit (leggings/joggers, shorts and t-shirt). * Reading - Please make sure all reading folders are returned to school on a Wednesday. |
